Located in Spokane’s University District, Boxcar pays homage to Spokane’s industrial past and the Union Pacific rail line that passes directly adjacent to the project site. Sited atop a shallow geologic formation, the project utilizes simple planes and humble materials capture public open space, offering an urban perch for the transit-oriented development. The design team achieved LEED Certification by prioritizing low energy use and a landscape that celebrates water efficiency and regional context.
